Scott W. Chambers Ph.D.

Founding Partner

Part 2B of Form ADV

Founding Partner of the Headwater Investments team.

Scott initially pursued an academic career, achieving a Ph.D. from UC Davis. He later relocated to McMinnville, where he assumed the role of a Professor of Finance at Linfield University. Scott dedicated himself to teaching and guiding students, a commitment he continues today by instructing at both Linfield University and the University of Oregon Executive MBA program in Portland.

Beyond the lecture halls, Scott directed his research towards investment management for endowments and foundations. His expertise led him to travel across the country and internationally, speaking at conferences and disseminating his knowledge. Additionally, Scott briefly served as Linfield University's Interim Vice-President for Finance and Administration, overseeing their endowment. His insights have been sought after by some of the largest nonprofit organizations in Oregon.

Scott transitioned his focus from endowments and foundations to a new passion: assisting individuals in saving for and enjoying a fulfilling retirement. Drawing from his extensive experience with hundreds of clients, Scott possesses a wealth of knowledge. Scott's insights are highly valued, evident in his role as a Trustee of Linfield University and a Director at First Federal Savings and Loan, and sought-after advisor for various non-profit boards.

Notably, Scott seldom commutes to work by car, often seen navigating town on his bike or on foot. Outside of his professional pursuits, he and his wife Susan share a love for travel, relishing the tranquility of their empty nest, and cherishing moments with their adult sons, and grandson, especially during leisurely river floats. They also find joy in embarking on Northwest camping, biking, and kayaking explorations.
